Snap on Dentures

Lots of people wear dentures. They are a great option for replacing missing teeth. However, one of the biggest complaints is that they can move when eating or talking, which can be uncomfortable and embarrassing. This is a particular problem when there is very little bone in the jaws for the dentures to rest on, which is a common scenario when you have been missing teeth for many years.

Dental implants can be used to secure your dentures. Connected to the implants are special attachments that act like press studs and insert into special housings that are placed in the dentures. This is a relatively simple procedure and is extremely effective. It can be life-changing for many patients who are struggling with loose dentures.

Another big advantage of snap-on dentures is that when implants are used in the upper jaw it is often possible to remove the palate from the denture. Uncovering the palate in this way reduces the size of your upper denture, improving taste and comfort. This is particularly beneficial if you suffer with a strong gag reflex.

The number of implants used will depend on how much bone you have and your budget. As a general rule, a minimum of 2 implants are needed in the lower jaw and 4 in the upper jaw. Placing an additional 2 implants (total of 4) in the lower jaw will improve the stability of your dentures and give you the option to upgrade to a totally fixed option in the future, should you decide to do so.
